Her Majesty’s Courts Service (HMCS) is an executive agency of the Ministry of Justice and is responsible for the administration of the civil, family and criminal courts in England and Wales.
HMCS is structured into 25 areas within 7 regions, together with the Royal Courts of Justice group whose role includes the administration of the Court of Appeal, High Court and Probate Service.
HMCS provides administration and support for the Court of Appeal, the High Court, the Crown Court, the magistrates' courts, the county courts and the Probate Service.
