The Care Quality Commission (CQC)
The independent regulator of health and social care in England, is a non-departmental public body established in 2009 to regulate and inspect health and social care services in England. They regulate care provided by the NHS, local authorities, private companies and voluntary organisations - whether in hospitals, care homes or people's own homes.
Part of the Commission's remit is to protect the interests of people whose rights have been restricted under the Mental Health Act.
Why might I contact the CQC?
- To raise a concern or complaint about a health or social care service
- To give feedback about a service
- To get hold of publications or reports from the Care Quality Commission's predecessor organisations: the Healthcare Commission and the Commission for Social Care Inspection
For general enquiries call their customer services team: 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
