The Tenant Services Authority (TSA)

The TSA is the independent regulator of affordable housing in England.
They are independent of government. The Secretary of State is able to direct the TSA in relation to certain standards – those affecting rents, the quality of accommodation and tenant engagement.

Part of their work involves making sure that housing associations are financially viable and well governed. They carry out annual reviews of the housing association sector’s financial performance.

The Tenant Services Authority has taken over the regulatory work of the Housing Corporation, inspecting housing providers and responding to concerns. From its initial remit over housing associations, it will expand to regulate local authority housing and ALMOs from April 2010.
